A DARFIELD couple had to be rescued by firefighters after becoming trapped in their home by a fire.
Fire crews from Dearne, Cudworth and Barnsley all attended the scene of the New Street blaze at 2.30am on Sunday, which had broken out in a garage and caravan outside.
Control room staff gave the couple fire survival advice until the fire crews broke down their door and rescued them. The couple became trapped after smoke from the fire entered the home.
The fire is currently under investigation but early indications show the fire was caused accidentally by a candle. Fire crews left the scene at 4.30am.
