A FUNDRAISING cake sale at a Hoyland primary school turned more competitive than the Great British Bake-Off.
Some of the sweet treats at Greenfield school turned out so brilliantly that cake judges wondered if it was the children who had actually produced them - or if they had just a little baking help from parents.
But the icing on the cake was that the sale raised £200, meaning children are a step closer to their dream of building a log cabin classroom.
The youngsters got out their mixing bowls and came up with the fantastic sweet treats to sell at 25p a cake.
Julia Davies from the school said: "We now have about £3,100 in total which means we'll be able to get the base of the log cabin and start work before May. The cabin will be a teaching space but will also be used by the Friends of Greenfield school for coffee mornings.
"There were some amazing cakes at our sale, especially one that was made to look like two slices of cheese with a mouse."
