PENSIONER Menella Howell was stitched up good and proper by a butcher.
Keith Bates, 58, abandoned his steaks and chops to help her when she fell in Barnsley market.
Using sterile plaster strips he gave Menella, 76 of Oak Street, Grimethorpe some butterfly stitches to stem the blood flow.
Staff at Barnsley Hospital admitted they couldn’t have done it better themselves.
Ambulance staff said Keith had done such a good job they decided to leave them in.
