WOMBWELL High Street may soon have its own CCTV camera system to help fight the battle with antisocial behaviour.
The idea was floated at last week’s Wombwell and Darfield Area forum.
Although no firm decision has yet been reached, a system with initially one or two cameras is being investigated.
Council and police representatives will soon be visiting a Rochdale firm which provide a wireless digital camera which may be suitable. It can be easily fitted and moved between sites and records remotely to a computer hard drive.
Mike Andrew, area forum officer, said: “Wombwell is the second town centre in the borough in terms of size, and like any town centre there are the odd incidents of antisocial behaviour.
