POGMOOR Area Resident's Association has received a £500 cash donation from developer Taylor Wimpey, which will help fund a brand-new sensory garden at Pogmoor Park.
The garden is located on the site where a Whitley bomber aircraft crashed in 1942 and will be a memorial park for the pilot, Sergeant Hollingworth and navigator, Sergeant Buchanan.
Marlene Crossland, from Pogmoor Area Residents Association, said: "The sensory garden will not only serve as a beautiful spot for nearby residents to enjoy, but also as a memorial site for the brave airmen that paid the ultimate sacrifice for their country during World War II."
