A MOURNING Grimethorpe couple whose three-year-old son lost his battle with a brain tumour has paid tribute to the local community.
Little Ashton Clarke, who began suffering with severe headaches around the Christmas period, was eventually rushed to Sheffield Children's Hospital where a scan revealed a mass on his brain.
After seven operations in four weeks and a bout of chemotherapy, he died on May 12 following a five-month fight against the aggressive third-grade glioma.
Dad Jason Clarke, 32, and mum Ashley Asquith, 24, of Chestnut Street, paid tribute to the local community who rallied around to raise more than £3,500 through sponsored walks, themed nights and other charity events.
