CHILDREN have been investigating a murder at Hunningley Primary School.
It wasn't real, of course — the mock killing was part of a national science week exercise to teach kids about forensics.
Pupils discovered a papier mache body in the school hall, then spent the day trying to work out who was responsible.
They found a trail of clues leading to the killer, including hair samples, a poison pen letter, fingerprints, and various pieces of material, which were all analysed using real forensic science techniques.
A blood-soaked knife was also left at the scene — made using tomato ketchup. The “killer” had struck during a dance in the school hall. He had needed money to fly to Spain when he was caught pilfering from a cash box.
Teacher Angela Moss, who ran the event said the children had thoroughly enjoyed it.
“CSI is on TV at the moment, and some of the older kids know all about that. It’s just like CSI but without the music.”
