DARFIELD residents are mounting a campaign to save their post office.

More than 80 residents and business people turned up for a meeting at Darfield All Saints Parish Hall on Friday evening.

Now, petition forms are in shops throughout Darfield and in Darfield Museum in an effort to combat Post Office Ltd's network transformation plans - which would see the Darfield branch shut, its services reduced, and moved to another location, such as inside a shop.

Darfield post master Muralee Panchanathan says he has been facing increasing pressure from the Post Office to accept 26 months' salary and step down from his position.
