CASH is still top of the list for burglars in Barnsley and their favourite way to break-in to homes is through the back door.
Figures obtained by the Chronicle show from April last year to March this year there were 703 house burglaries reported to South Yorkshire Police, along with 29 distraction burglaries and three aggravated burglaries.
The bulk of burglaries took place during the day - between 11am and 6pm - but an hour by hour breakdown of police data for Barnsley showed a peak between midnight and 1am.
