POLICE believe this man may hold vital information about a cowardly attack on a partially sighted train passenger.

British Transport Police have released the CCTV image following an incident on the Northern Rail service from Sheffield to Leeds on Saturday July 4 when a group of men targeted the victim, a 49-year-old man from Loughborough, who is partially sighted.

Investigating officer PC Fiona Poyner said: "The victim was sat at the back of the train on a folding seat when a group of five to six men, who had been drinking, boarded the service at Barnsley station at around 2pm.

"The victim was called names by the group before being hit on the back of the head by one of them."

Anyone with information is asked to contact 0800 40 50 40 or text 61016, quoting reference PSUB/B9 of July 28. Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers.
