JUST over a year ago a Barnsley man stepped into the shower and came out needing a heart transplant.
Ian McPherson was in Barnsley Hospital recovering from a routine knee operation for damage done during his time as a gym coach and decided to take a shower before being discharged.
He blacked out and the next thing he knew he was in theatre after having a heart attack.
Ian, of Cliffe Court, Monk Bretton, was referred to hospitals in Sheffield and Rotherham but his heart was too badly damaged for them to treat.
The 60- year-old fitter at a glass works was sent to a hospital in Cambridge and put on the waiting list for a heart transplant.
