The 18-year-old midfielder, who is on loan from Arsenal until January, missed the win over Swindon Town on Saturday. Head coach Lee Johnson told the Chronicle: "I think he will play for England one day and I don't want to lose that duty of care to a young player who could be very good for the country.
"He lies so that he can play. He has been telling me he is fine but I saw him wincing and I felt the responsibility to get him scanned.
"It's a funny one because the scan shows a small tear but he's getting no real symptoms. We will get some isometric tests done and we need to get to the point where he can hit a shot at full power and not feel any twinges.
"It might be a case of letting it heal for two or three weeks then he will come back flying. He would be a big miss for us because he is such a good player."
