WOMBWELL residents are relieved that a planning application they signed a petition against has been rejected.
A developer bought 15 Albany Close, and submitted plans for a four bedroom detached house with a detached garage at the bottom of the garden.
In a meeting of the council’s planning board on Tuesday, Coun Trevor Smith, member for Darfield, forwarded a motion to reject the application which was approved.
Coun Smith said: “I believe the design is not appropriate for the area and it needs something in character with the surrounding street scene.”
The plan was put before the board on March 6 but was deferred to this month’s meeting to allow time for a site visit by councillors.
