A VITAL service which supports those caring for loved ones with dementia is at crisis point with just weeks to go until funding runs out.
There are 200 families in Barnsley who receive valuable help from Barnsley Independent Alzheimer's and Dementia Support group's carer support service.
Its fortunes are hanging by a thread as funding - which covers the salaries for carer support workers Jacky Phelan and Lesley Parkes - comes to an end in December.
The risk of losing the service has prompted BIADS to launch an SOS - Save Our Service - appeal to try and find the £30,000 or so needed to ensure it can continue next year.
