IT was a wonderful night for Barnsley as the town's unsung heroes were honoured at the annual Proud of Barnsley Awards.
From 93-year-old Ernie Oliver, who has volunteered all his life, to three-year-old Lauren Taylor who suffers from the rare genetic condition WilliamÕs Syndrome, to Bronia Warden who has for 14 years offered classes to older people and those who have disabilities.
None of the finalists or nominees see what they do as worthy, but those who nominated them disagreed.
