A 19-year-old girl from Carlton was the only person to bowl a maximum 300 game at the World Cup in Las Vegas.
Keira Reay finished ninth in the adult women's category after winning the qualification tournament to become England's only female representative.
Despite the competition attracting an elite field from around the world, no other man or woman achieved a perfect score of 300 which is 12 consecutive strikes. Keira, who started the sport after her mother Erica got at job at Barnsley Bowl near their home, now aims to become world champion.
"To come ninth in the world at 19 is really good and it shows I can be fighting for top spot in a few years," said Keira.
"Previously there have been loads of 300s at this event so to get the only one is amazing. It's the most high-profile event I have been to so far. My aim was to finish in the top 24 so I am happy with the result. I was 21 pins away from getting in the top eight which is very close.
"It was a great experience and Las Vegas is the best place I have been to.The only problem was that I couldn't join in any of the celebrations because I am under the age limit."
Keira, who competed at the World Open in Tokyo earlier this year, will travel to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates next week for the World Championship. She will represent England as part of a team of six. She then hopes to win both the World Youth Championships and European Women's Championships in 2016. Keira – who studies coaching and sport development at University Campus Barnsley – is a double European champion at under 18 level and has won multiple British titles.
