AN EXPERIENCED rug maker is bringing a colourful display of his work to the walls of the Darfield museum this month.
Barry Jowitt, 75, of Milford Avenue, Elsecar, has been fabricating rugs for more than 30 years.
On display are large wall hangings he has created using rug pegging and brodding techniques from a variety of materials, such as wool, cottons and silks.
He had been making rugs for 25 years before moving here from Huddersfield in 2006.
Barry, who formally worked for the Civil Service, said: “I first started by buying ready-cut rugs. They’re personal and each one I make is one of a kind.”
