Other offences, identified off Westway and in the Cheapside area resulted in penalty notices being served on offenders with an offender found in Wilkinson Street cautioned by police.

An incident in Langdale Road was dealt with through a ‘local resolution’ agreed with police, and officers were unable to prosecute a suspect over an incident in the Peel Street area.

Other incidents in Highstone Road and Springfield Street remain under investigation.

Numbers of incidents were up from October, when seven drugs offences were recorded in the same area. Two resulted in court cases, following an investigation based in the area of Barnsley Police Station, Churchfields and a car park off Wellington Street.

An offender was cautioned over an incident at the same Wellington Street location and another in Western Street was also cautioned.
