TWO people were seriously injured and three more needed hospital treatment after a head-on collision.

A green Ford Mondeo was travelling from Dodworth and was in collision with a bronze Peugeot 106 in Silkstone Common.

Police say the Peugeot, driven by an 18-year-old Dodworth man, had drifted into the path of the Mondeo.

The Peugeot driver and front seat passenger both required hospital treatment but were discharged. The rear seat passenger, a Dodworth woman, 18, seriously injured her arm and was kept in hospital.

A 66-year-old Hood Green man was driving the Mondeo and suffered bruising and whiplash. The front seat passenger, thought to be his wife, was seriously injured and suffered whiplash and a fractured sternum.

The crash happened on Knabbs Lane near the junction with Woodland View.
