LITTLE Alfie Ledgeway helped Reds’ head coach Lee Johnson out at the pre-match press conference yesterday.

Alfie, who is celebrating his fourth birthday today, suffers from chiari malformation, a condition which means his brain is being pushed towards his spinal cord causing constant headaches and problems with his balance.

He first appeared at Oakwell last year, when he was a mascot, but after striking up a friendship with the players - in particular, ‘Big Alfie’ Mawson - he has been back.

Yesterday, Alfie was visiting the players as part of a birthday treat when he bumped into Lee on his way to a press conference. And Lee decided to take Alfie along.
