ONLY five of Barnsley secondary schools have met the government’s minimum target for the number of pupils achieving five good GCSEs including English and maths.
The performance of the borough’s secondary schools was laid bare yesterday when the Department for Education published its league tables for last year’s exam results.
The number of pupils scoring five good GCSEs including English and maths - at grade C or above - is the benchmark used to determine the government’s annual league tables.
Holy Trinity at Athersley fared the worst - slumping from third best performer in 2014 to bottom of the class for its 2015 results.
