IT’S all systems go for an Anglo-Dutch company which is ready to create 1,500 jobs on a £130 million development at Manvers Lakeside.
Shops, restaurants, 471 homes, including an 84 unit retirement village, a public house, hotel, medical centre, golf course and conference centre, car showroom and petrol station will transform the 285 acre site between the lake and RSPB Old Moor at the Wetlands.
Express Park’s Waterfront development was launched on Friday in a blaze of publicity by John Healey, MP for Wentworth, and a firework display over the lake. It is believed to be the first of its kind in South Yorkshire.
“This is one of the final parts of a remarkable transformation of the Dearne since the mines closed, bringing 11,000 new jobs into the area,” said Mr Healey.
“This development will bring not just a further 1,500 jobs, but much needed leisure facilities for the Dearne and wider area.”
