A PROJECT to convert a former caretaker’s house into a learning centre for children is warming up nicely thanks to the generosity of local tradesman.
Staff at Tesco stores around Barnsley who volunteered to refurbish the old caretaker’s house at Oakhill Primary Academy in Doncaster Road, Ardsley appealed for help to complete the DIY SOS-type challenge.
And it wasn’t long before that help arrived - in the shape of a new boiler and heating system.
Tesco community champion Lisa Hammond said: “I’m overwhelmed with the support of local businesses.
“It’s very clear when speaking to all who have been involved so far that they have a great community spirit and believe that by coming together as a team we can do good and achieve great things that will benefit children in our community for many years.”
