ALMOST £1.5m has been set aside by the council to carry out maintenance of its buildings.

It has produced a schedule of works to be carried out which falls into four categories, the most serious being ‘urgent’ to prevent immediate closure, high risk to occupants or serious breach of legislation.

Other works are classed as either essential within two years, desirable within three to five years or long-term outside five year planning period.

Council papers state the extent of the current total maintenance tops £23m but for the foreseeable future, work below priority two is unlikely to be funded but will continue to be reviewed.

An overall planned maintenance budget of £1.466m for 2016/17 has been approved.
