ELDERLY bus users are angry after changes to bus services and timetables have left some residents feeling ‘stranded’.
Elizabeth Birkinshaw, 84, of Kirk View, Hoyland was unhappy when the 227 service from Hoyland to Barnsley was stopped on May 20.
The withdrawal has meant that the disabled pensioner can no longer catch the bus she relied on from the stop outside her home.
She said: “They may ride around in limousines but we don’t. There are a lot of elderly people who rely on these services and there has been no consideration of us at all.”
Changes to services have meant the 227 from Rotherham is no longer a direct service to Barnsley but terminates in Hoyland centre. Passengers must change and catch the 66 which takes a slightly different route.
But Elizabeth, who can only walk with a stick, argues that she and many others cannot get to these bus stops.
