A SPECIAL garden has been officially opened at Barnsley Hospital.

More than £20,000 has been raised to pay for the memorial garden which is designed to create a comforting and tranquil area where people can visit to remember their lost loved ones.

The money was raised by Jaxon’s Gift, the charity set up three years ago by a local mum and dad to remember their stillborn son Jaxon Fretwell, and help others dealing with a loss.

As well as giving bereaved families ‘forget me not’ boxes’, the charity holds a baby loss memorial service every year after which balloons are released into the air.
