BARNSLEY Premier Leisure (BPL) is a not-for-profit social enterprise and charitable company that was established in 1999.

BPL seeks to provide affordable, value for money, health, sport and leisure facilities and activities to the local community, with centres across Barnsley, Bassetlaw, Doncaster, Mansfield and Pontefract.

BPL’s diverse sports and leisure facilities include unique venues, multi-use leisure centres, public golf courses, school out-of-hours amenities, and standalone health and fitness facilities.

This includes the award-winning Metrodome Leisure Complex, which draws in visitors from across the Yorkshire region.

The Metrodome’s Calypso Cove Waterpark, Metrodome Bowling alley, Rigby Cafe and Lounge dining facility, Metrodome Arena and Fitness Flex gym offer unrivalled entertainment and fitness opportunities to local residents, and is the true embodiment of BPL’s mission statement: ‘working together to enrich lives’.

The Rigby Cafe and Lounge received considerable investment last year, to ensure it continues to offer excellent service. Thanks to its recent refurbishment, the Rigby Cafe and Lounge now boasts a venue space available to hire for corporate functions, meetings and the celebration of special occasions.

Similarly, Hoyland Leisure Centre has received considerable investment and has recently undergone a complete refurbishment of both its large and small pools, offering a better environment and upgraded facilities to local people.

It wasn’t just the Hoyland pools which received an upgrade, as BPL also invested in state-of-the-art fitness equipment in the facility’s gym. The gym now has several Pulse Fitness machines with interactive consoles, which have enhanced cardiovascular equipment at the centre.

“We are particularly excited to be sponsoring the prestigious School of the Year award. It’s important to remember that these young people are the athletes of tomorrow, and will shape the development of our society for years to come.

“Our own Maxx membership is designed to make access to all our facilities affordable, and encourage young people and their families to be active as often as possible.
