RESIDENTS across Barnsley have started to mop up after the town was hit by the worst floods in 60 years.

Villages and towns across the borough were submerged - with some areas under about three feet of water.

Insurance loss adjusters have started to visit some parts of the town to assess the severity of the damage. A two-page special report on the flooding will be included in Friday's Chronicle.
