THE council’s “shambolic” waste and recycling service has been given a six week deadline to dramatically improve.
The Chronicle understands the council’s chief executive and senior councillors met on Monday for what was described as an “urgent meeting” with top management of the service.
Managers were told they have just six weeks to sort out current problems within waste and recycling and restore the levels of service to what they were before the problems with collections started.
For the past two months the number of complaints about wheelie bins going unemptied for weeks on end has soared.
Hundreds of collections across the borough have been missed and more and more residents have taken to social media to complain about the “appalling service” which has also been described as “shambolic” and “pathetic”.
