SCOUT Dike is set for another £1m boost from the company which has taken over the lease of the children’s adventure camp.
Kingswood Learning and Leisure Group began running the centre, which is also known as Peak Venture, about a year-and-a-half ago.
It has already spent £1m on revamping the sleeping quarters, putting in special teacher rooms, creating a climbing wall and bringing in quad biking, archery and fencing.
Now there are plans to expand even further and managers hope to increase the numbers of children they can accommodate from 200 to about 300.
And there is more good news for Barnsley children, because part of the 35 year agreement is a deal to offer free places to the town’s schools for the length of the lease.
Kingswood educational development manager Melvyn Turner wants to build on Scout Dike's good reputation and make it even better.
