A FASHION retailer in Grimethorpe has been accused of having ‘Big Brother-style’ surveillance systems in place to monitor its employees.
GMB, the trade union, has called on the government’s Business, Innovation and Skills Committee to launch an inquiry into working practices at ASOS’s warehouse, on Park Spring Road, having accused the online clothing giant of constantly watching its 4,000 employees.
However, an ASOS spokesman refuted the claims and labelled the GMB’s allegations as ‘inaccurate’.
“The latest round of allegations from the GMB are just as inaccurate as the previous ones have been - we do not have cameras on every workstation. We only search up to two per cent of the staff each day and this includes a random selection of staff at every level and visitors alike.”
