THESE sketches give a first glimpse of a new ‘Market Parade’ to house indoor market traders while the Metropolitan Centre undergoes refurbishment.
The aim is to move the existing traders into the semi-open market while work on the Metropolitan Centre is carried out and the initial designs show how that area could be transformed into a temporary home for indoor traders.
It now means the plan to start knocking down the multi-storey car park will be put on hold until later on in the Better Barnsley regeneration - rather than work starting after Christmas as previously planned.
