James Bree hopes he is over the worst of his injury troubles as he bids to cement his place in the Reds team and pass 25 appearances for the first time in a season.
The 18-year-old full-back, who could be forced to line up in central midfield with Josh Scowen and Conor Hourihane suspended for the Bristol City game, has been in and out of the Barnsley team with niggling injuries since first breaking in two seasons ago.
His best appearance total was last season where he made 24 but only three of them came after February.
He said: "I want to play as many games as possible.
"I don't really look at the stats but I want to be beating it every single season and playing more games every time.
"I know quite a lot of my appearances have been as a substitute so now I want be getting starts and playing 90 minutes where I can.
"I will aim for the target of 25 or 30, and it's good that we have come up a league, but we will have to see what happens.
"Hecky manages my games. Being a player, I want to play week in, week out but from previous experience I can't play Saturday, Tuesday every week.
"When the Saturday, Tuesday fixtures come, Hecky has said that's when rotation might come in."
