DICKIE Bird is set to make another major donation to the Tiny Hearts Appeal which aims to help poorly babies.
The big-hearted former cricket umpire intends to donate a further £30,000 to the charity in the New Year.
Dickie, 83, said seeing ill babies and children had profoundly affected him.
Fighting back tears, he told the Chronicle: “I’ve never married in my life because of my profession. I’ve lived out of a suitcase since I was 19 going all over the world with cricket.
“I think that’s why these little babies have touched my heart so much.
“My heart is in this charity. It’s a tremendous cause and I’m going to help them all I can.”
