INCIDENTS of antisocial behaviour on a notorious Royston street have been reduced - but police patrols will continue throughout January.
A joint operation between South Yorkshire Police and Barnsley Council has been ongoing on Milgate Street since June after crime figures rose by 50 per cent from the previous year’s figures.
The alarming spike - which saw complaints about the street’s problems with antisocial behaviour, absentee landlords and fly-tipping - prompted action to be taken and police patrols have been a priority for the Barnsley East Local Policing Team (LPT) for the last five months.
But now progress has been made on reducing problems and, according to police figures, just 11 incidents were reported from November 8 to December 20 - continuing the downward monthly spiral since September.
