Barnsley crashed out of the FA Cup third round at home to League Two Blackpool who netted in the 120th minute.

The visitors took the lead after half an hour but Angus MacDonald levelled just after half-time with his first Reds goal. Substitute Bright Osayi-Samuel got the winner after Barnsley missed a string of late chances against a side two divisions below them.

Paul Heckingbottom made two changes from the side that lost 2-0 at Fulham in the Championship on Saturday, with loanees Adam Armstrong and Ryan Kent coming in for Ryan Williams and Marley Watkins.

Visiting goalkeeper Sam Slocombe was almost caught out by an inswinging Conor Hourihane free-kick from the right wing in the seventh minute but managed to scramble it behind for a corner.

Home goalkeeper Adam Davies then comfortably caught a volley from Danny Pugh who had brought the ball down nicely on the edge of the Reds box.

The first clear cut chance came when Jim McAlister was put through, beat a defender and went one-on-one with Davies who made an excellent save diving to his right.

Marc Roberts limped off after 29 minutes to be replaced by Adam Jackson and Barnsley conceded within seconds as a long throw was not properly cleared and Kelvin Mellor smashed in a superb volley.

Barnsley's response was fairly good as Slocombe again had to be at full stretch to turn away a teasing cross from the right, this time from Adam Hammill. But the Reds went into the break knowing they had been far from their best.

The Reds were level four minutes into second half when MacDonald flicked a header towards goal from Hourihane's corner and Slocombe could not keep it out at his near post.

Slocombe had to beat away long-range efforts from Hammill and Hourihane, who then floated in a good free-kick which Armstrong headed and forced another fine stop. Another Hourihane free-kick, this time a clever through ball into the box which caught the home defence flat-footed, was met by Scowen who dragged badly wide of the left post from ten yards out on the right of the area.

But the game quietened down again after that, despite one Bradshaw header which he put straight at Slocombe from close range with not much time to react.

Barnsley almost won it in extra-time when Hourihane's free-kick was tipped over the bar but Blackpool then missed a golden chance when Bright Osayi-Samuel powered into the Reds box but was denied by an excellent Davies save, throwing himself down to his left.

In the second half of the added period, Slocombe parried a shot by substitute Ryan Williams then another replacement Marley Watkins saw his rebound effort cleared off the line by Will Aimson.

Hammill should have won it in the 115th minute after an excellent one-two with Aidy White in the Blackpool box but he fired over the bar from eight yards out. Clark Robertson then hit a shot from the edge of the Reds area which Davies did well to beat away.
