A BARNSLEY headteacher has warned Parliament of the damage that proposed cuts to school funding will do as she gave evidence to a House of Commons select committee.

Kate Davies, principal of Darton College, was invited to give evidence to the Public Accounts Committee on Monday.

Teaching unions warned last week that Barnsley schools face losing more than £6m in funding cuts under a planned government shake-up of schools funding.

Kate told the members of the committee that if the cuts went ahead there was ‘no doubt’ it would impact on schools’ ability to teach.

“Three quarters of my budget goes on staffing,” Kate told the Chronicle.
