BARNSLEY residents are recycling less, according to new government statistics.
The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs has released figures showing there was a significant drop in recycling household waste in Barnsley in 2015/16 compared to the previous year.
The rate in Barnsley fell by almost eight per cent, from 53.2 per cent in 2014/15 to 45.4 per cent in 2015/16. This is equivalent to a drop from 53,152 to 45,806 tonnes.
