PUPILS in Grimethorpe are helping to educate the community on the laws surrounding dogs and dog fouling - and win £500.

Year seven children at Willogarth High School have entered the Life Style Project as the Grimy Growlers and will design posters and leaflets to help raise awareness of what can happen to the dogs, and the owners, if they are found to be breaking the law.

PCSO Annette Cooley said: “There are lots of stray dogs in Grimethorpe and there is a huge problem with fouling. We want people to know what will happen to their dogs if they are left to roam and if they don’t clear away their dog's foulings. We all want a safe and clean community.”

The Growlers will have a stand at the Grimethorpe Gala displaying information and will host a tombola.

They hope to use the proceeds to sponsor a dog bin, to put information signs on lampposts or to have ‘no fouling’ signs to be sprayed on the floor.

If the group win the project, which closes on the Sunday, September 30, they will each receive £500.
