MORE than a dozen workmen will next week start transforming little Jess Stock’s bedroom into a palace fit for a princess.

Two-year-old Jess has spent the last 14 months in Sheffield Children’s Hospital after being diagnosed with leukaemia.

She had a bone marrow transplant last year. At her last check-up she was ‘leukaemia-free’ but the various medication she requires to help stop her immune system rejecting her donor’s bone marrow has made her seriously ill and she is still in hospital.

Renovation of the family’s home on Mitchelson Avenue in Dodworth was put on hold after Jess went into hospital.

But the workmen - which includes the Chronicle’s handyman Steve Jordan - are hoping to have Jess and her seven-year-old sister Macy’s bedrooms ready for when Jess returns home from hospital, though it is not known when this will be.
