AN INDUSTRIAL site that once housed a steam saw mill, coal mine, barge building company and brick merchant is to be redeveloped for housing.
Permissions was granted this week for outline proposals to build 46 houses and apartments off West Street, Worsbrough Dale.
The planning board approved the access when it met on Tuesday, with more detailed proposals on layout, appearance and scale reserved for future consideration.
A previous planning application put forward in 2014 for 70 homes but this was refused by planning officials on grounds it would result in both a loss of existing jobs and employment potential in ‘an area where there is an inadequate supply of employment land’.
