LAST orders has been called at a Barnsley pub for the final time.

The Black Bull, Grange Lane, Stairfoot, closed its doors yesterday.

It has been run by landlord Darren Webster and his wife Karen for about eight years.

But their last night was on Wednesday after pub company Ei Publican Partnerships, formerly Enterprise Inns, made the decision to close it.

Darren, 46, said: “We are all devastated. It has been a big part of our lives, and a big part of my life for 20 years.

“It’s like a having a big family. We announced it was closing to all our regulars, and watching your friends and grown men crying is devastating.

“It’s such a shame, we have tried our best. I said I wanted to carry on running it but they wouldn’t listen to reason. They saw it as a pub which didn’t make enough profit. “They wanted me to do a new business plan to change it around, but it’s a pub in quiet area.”
