A WOMBWELL girl is so incensed by the dangerous traffic situation outside her primary school that she has taken it up personally with the council.

Rebecca Hewitt, 11, of Newsome Avenue, feels passionately about the dangers outside High View Primary and has written to all three Wombwell members and the town hall asking for a car park to be built on the site of the old Highfields school.

She sent the letter in a bright pink envelope so it would be noticed.

Rebecca said: “When kids are trying to cross the road there are cars parked on both sides and you can’t even see what’s coming. It is absolutely ridiculous. There is going to be an accident.

“I also feel if there was a bad emergency at school time, fire engines would not be able to get through and save people.”

Rebecca left High View this summer and is to move to Wombwell High next month. But she still worries about her friends, relatives and other children who still go to the school.
