MEMBERS of Darton Darby and Joan group say it could be Christmas before they can move back into their premises.
Kexborough Community House has been used as a temporary meeting place after their building was ravaged by flood water.
Industrial-strength dryers have been put in place but the treasurer of the group, Stuart Bennett, told the Chronicle it could be months before the premises are fully dry.
Stuart said they originally hoped to be back in the premises, behind the Co-op store on Church Street, by October.
He added: “It's such a big place it’s going to take a lot longer than we first anticipated.
“I think Christmas time is a realistic target for the drying stage to be complete. Until then the full extent of damage cannot be calculated and no remedial work or repairs can be done.”
It was hit by two and a half feet of water damaging a new piano, organ, heating system, kitchen and toilet facilities as well as the stage and its partitioning walls between the dressing room.
Security fencing and vehicle access to the premises have also been affected after flood water tore up the road outside the entrance to the building.
Stuart says members are grateful to Kexborough Community House for allowing them to use the premises until their own building is repaired and the they will continue to meet there every Friday from 6pm to 8pm.
