A MAKESHIFT secondary school site for 100 pupils needs to be found in Barnsley if the council is to cope with future demand on pupil places.

The council has been forced to come up with the temporary solution after plans to provide a new ‘free school’ in the town centre anounced earlier this year were delayed because government has suspended its Free Schools Programme pending a review by ministers.

The stopgap measure, part of wider plans to deal with a shortage of places over the next three years, is revealed in a report due to be discussed by senior councillors on Wednesday.
