THIS month supporters of The Civic #Connect fundraising campaign can turn their hard earned tenners into twenties for a good cause.

Grow Your Tenner, a campaign run by charity Local Giving, will kick off on Tuesday October 17 at 10am, and donations of £10 will be doubled by Local Giving until the funding runs out.

Helen Ball, CEO of the Civic, said: "It's a great way to make your donation work harder for such a fantastic charity appeal.

"We do hope our supporters will consider donating. One-time £10 donations made to the Civic at 10am on October 17 will be matched pound-for-pound by Local Giving. Alternatively, if an individual sets up 12 monthly donations at 10am on October 17, Local Giving will match this too."

The Civic earlier this year launched an ambitious £5m fundraising appeal to restore and open up a new theatre, gallery and cafe spaces. The Civic has been part of the town since 1877. While, part of the Civic building has benefited from modernisation, the appeal aims to reinstate the dilapidated front doors on Eldon Street connecting the Civic to the new town market square, and open up and utilise the unfinished floors at the centre of the listed building.

Helen said: "Our vision is to create a world-class destination for the arts by 2023. We want the Civic to be the pride of Barnsley's town centre."

Local Giving has a match fund pot of £200,000 in total, giving the Civic the chance to receive up to a maximum of £1,000 match funding for one time donations and £4,000 match funding for monthly donations.
