A MAN has been jailed after pleading guilty to a string of driving offences including causing death by careless driving.
Ian Forward, 37, of Lindale Gardens, Goldthorpe, appeared before Sheffield Crown Court on Friday where he was jailed for a total of two years and three months after pleading guilty to causing death by careless driving after he hit pedestrian Marie Cross on Barrowfield Lane, Thurnscoe in October last year.
Marie, 36, of Houghton Road, Thurnscoe, was airlifted to Sheffield’s Northern General Hospital but died of her injuries.
Forward also admitted failing to stop, failing to report a collision, and driving without a valid licence or insurance.
He was arrested in January for two drug driving offences after being stopped by officers and was later charged with the offences. He appeared before Sheffield Magistrates’ Court in July where he was disqualified from driving for 18 months.
He also pleaded guilty to two counts of driving without a valid driving licence or insurance and was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 12 months and received a £120 fine.
At the time of his arrest for these offences, Forward had been released on police bail as officers conducted an investigation into the crash involving Ms Cross.
