FREE slippers will be handed out to the elderly this week.
Events will take place at Wombwell Library and Cudworth Methodist Church on Thursday and Friday respectively, organised by the villages’ ward alliances.
It’s all about boosting safety in the home and over 60s have been encouraged to exchange their old slippers for a new pair.
A spokesman said: “Sloppy slippers cause accidents so we are trying to prevent slips, trips and falls in the scheme. The Wombwell event runs from 10am until noon and the one in Cudworth is from 1 to 3.30pm.
“Free refreshments will be available and healthcare experts will be on hand to discuss any concerns people may have.”
