HIGH-RISE residential buildings in Barnsley have been inspected following the Grenfell Tower fire earlier this year.
There are three council-owned and two privately owned high-rise buildings, which are six storeys or higher, in Barnsley.
Immediately after the Grenfell fire, fire safety teams brought forward routine inspections of high-rise buildings in South Yorkshire.
All 43 council-owned high rise buildings in the county have been inspected, as have the majority of the 51 privately-owned tower blocks, with the rest due to be visited soon.
A small number of issues were identified, including broken glazing, missing seals on doors, damage to fire doors and problems with emergency lighting.
The fire service is working with the responsible persons for those buildings to resolve those issues, using specific action plans.
The fire service does not inspect external cladding on buildings.
These tests were carried out by the Department for Communities and Local Government; no premises in Barnsley failed.
