Midfielder George Moncur admits Joe Williams's suspension is a big blow to the club.

Williams will miss the next three games after his straight red card at Millwall on Saturday.

Moncur, 24, has described Williams as the best player he has seen at his young age.

He told the Chronicle: "It's going to be a massive loss. He's a young lad but I really do rate him as a lad and as a player.

"It's tough on him because he has just lost his head a bit. Everyone makes mistakes but he's going to be a miss for the side.

"For his age to be playing in the Championship week in and week out and performing like he has, to be fair I haven't really seen anyone like that at his age.

"He is going to be a hell of a miss and I am sure he is going to go on to do great things."

His suspension may open the door to Moncur, who has looked lively in his last two appearances from the bench.

He is keen to take any chance he gets to work his way into the Barnsley starting team and help them to get away from trouble and build on his 25 appearances so far this campaign.

He added: "Every time you get a chance you've got to take it. "Every time I get an opportunity I am going to try and impress the manager.

"We are down at the bottom but I don't think we deserve to be there because we have played really good in games but we haven't got anything from them.

"The run in is quite hard. It's going to be tough but on our day we can beat anyone.

"Off the ball has some times been an issue with me and I am just going to keep working at it and keep trying to do the right things and when I am on the ball, do what I can do.

"I am going to really work hard to do the things that aren't natural to me and hopefully it will become more natural."
